Cubans and Pulaski's Ways
A few news articles over the past few days mentioned that any Cuban citizen qualifies for immediate residency, the second they reach the US border. And (automatically?) become a LPR one year plus one day afterwards. Is this correct? Given that this is the press we're talking about, I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but you never know.
If so, maybe Pulaski's Ways needs an addition: do you currently hold, or qualify for, Cuban citizenship? :lol: |

Wet foot dry foot.

Yes, Boiler got it with the wet foot policy. Whether it will continue with improved relations is hard to say. US has vacilated between wanting Cubans when not many arrive, and not wanting them, when they all turn up.

Re: Cubans and Pulaski's Ways
Having a quick look at Cuban citizenship law, here's one possible route to naturalisation;
....those who contributed to the armed struggle against the tyranny overthrown on January 1, 1959, provided they show proof of this in the legally established form; |

To be fair, the Cuban legislature enacts nationality law for Cuba, not for other countries. So the law mentions the tyranny overthrown in Cuba, but other countries are responsible for overthrowing their own tyrannies, and enacting their own legislation. Unless of course other countries request fraternal assistance from Cuba.

Might be an interesting idea for some to present a fake Cuban passport as a pathway into the US. How would CBP tell the difference? It's not that Cuba and the US are on speaking terms... yet.

Well seeing as USCBP officers rarely see Cuban passports presented at POEs they just might do a little more scrutiny of said document. Even if it is fake if their feet are dry then Welcome to the USA :lol:
