True, except of course for the specialty plates which have their own text at the bottom.
Rental cars are basically still easy to spot if you know what you're looking for, it just isn't shown on the tag anymore.

I'm not British, but its a good tip for anyone to observe while on vacation in areas they're not familiar with.

Men don't ask for directions, that's just wrong. If you do and get shot surely that's at least a borderline mercy killing.
