Credit check and Junk mail
Shock I did my free credit check last night and chose Experian all is great except the damn Junk mail that gets sent to my house..
CITIBANK have looked at my credit score 13 times in 7 months :curse:Amex 6 and a few others, does this not drop your score down everytime they check your file!!!
How do I stop them from accessing my private information if this is the case!!
Oh I do not back with any of them I use a local credit union.

Are you sure someone's not applying for stuff in your name?
Maybe my credit report is just dull.

Click on generate opt out forms and go from there. Some will require you phone in and some that you mail in the generated letter.
Pulls on your credit can cost anything between 5 & 20 points (so many factors go into it) but a soft pull just checking your credit score range shouldn't harm. The benefit of stopping the junk pre approved mail is you get a lot less mail but also it reduces the risk of ID theft.
P.S. Actually opting out can help increase your credit score. If I have a mortgage borrower say 6 points short of a better loan program we'll try this route as quiet often it'll increase your credit score by around 10 points. It takes around 4 weeks to have an affect on your credit.

Yes, you can opt out of credit card offers that come in the mail; there is usually a contact mailing address/web site on unsolicited offers.
Creditors who check your credit in order to send unsolicited offers show up in a separate section than those who check it because you have requested credit. BGT is right, these sorts of checks (as with checks you authorise your employer to perform, if you have to) do not count against you for purposes of credit score.

Re: Credit check and Junk mail
If you think its bogus, dispute them all or inquire. My wife had a whole bunch of stuff on her report that was linked to previous college addresses, credit cards with balances that hadn't been paid in months, inquiries for loans, all kinds of stuff. We disputed them all and her score went up around 125 points in 90 days.

I would definitely check out whether those inquiries are soft or hard pulls, if they are hard pulls they could well be affecting your score as it may seem you are desparate for credit - as well as the fact that they seem a bit dodgy. As I said I have never seen an inquiry except for things I applied for (hard pulls) and then soft pulls from banks when opening accounts or when requesting your credit score, etc.
