Hi All,

I have read alot on credit scores on the forum, all helpfull. But i was looking to see if anyone had any thoughts on my specific situation, any feedback much appreciated :)

I have been in the USA (Texas) for just over a year (L1-B visa), have had a SSN for 6 months, driving licence for 4 months, been paying off a car financing for 4 months, have had a secured credit card for 4 months, have been employed and paying taxes for 6 months.

I would really like to know what my credit score is but i have heard that checking it actually hampers your score...is this true?

Would anybody know roughtly what kind of a score i may have based on my facts, or is it still too early to have any kind of a score?

Thankyou

Richard

Too early. You need 6 months history before FICO will calculate a score. So you've got 2 months to go, plus another 2 or 3 months for the data to make its way to the agencies, before it's even worth checking.

A potential creditor checking your history is a hit, but not you checking your own history.

As Catman said, you're score is not calculable until there are six months of history in there. Your score will be 700+, but your history will be insufficient to support any heavy new lines.

Don't get too hung up on the number.......and certainly don't bother wasting your money buying it. The calculator here will give you as accurate a figure as you need for general planning.

You can try this as well: http://www.creditkarma.com/

Free, and it will give your actual Transunion score. One out of the three, but not a bad indicator. But I agree with the others, the score without history does not mean too much.
