Covering letter for tax forms (1040 & 2555)?
Hi there, just filled in my wife's earnings for the last few years and have written a covering letter but just wanted to make sure it was ok.
This is what I have: Internal Revenue Service American Embassy 24 Grosvenor Square London W1A 1AE United Kingdom To whom it may concern Please find enclosed forms 1040 and 2555 for the years 2006-2009. I have also enclosed an additional copy of the first page of each 1040 form, could you please stamp these copies as “received” and mail them back to me in the stamped addressed envelope provided. Yours sincerely, |

Instead mail it via a method that generates a notice to you of delivery.

I was going to send it recorded delivery anyway. I was just following the tax guide in the wiki area. What else can I do?

That's about as much as you can do.
If you ask them to stamp the copies of 1040 page 1 as received, and send an SAE, you do usually get those back in the post. |

I've received a "received" acknowledgement after sending a copy and sae too. It works at least some of the time!
