Default Covered California, Plan for E2 dependents

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for an advise related to the Health Insurance.

I am planning to buy a policy from the Covered California (CC) Once I reached LA. (30th April)

We are going on E2 visa (approved).I would appreciate if anyone could advise if

1 - I am eligible to buy from the CC on non - immigrant E2 visa. The Policy will be for my wife and 2 kids, and I will get the cover from my employer.
2 - If yes, please if anyone knows about how long does the process takes. We will be in the hotel for the first 2 weeks.
3 - If it takes very long, would be it be a good idea to buy a 1 month long one way travel insurance ?

Thanks for your help.

Usually if you sign up for coverage through your employer, there is a set date, such as "first day of the next month", for coverage to start. .... What does your employer's policy say?

Since this is an investment visa, would he have an "employer"?

(i) The OP said in post #1 that he has an employer, which is why I referred to an employer in my post.

(ii) E-2 visas are issued to employees of treaty trader corporations, as well as to individual investor-business owners. There are other members of BE who are here as employees on E-2 visas.

Yes, I am an employee of an E2 Investor, (Chairman) of our company. However, E2 employee must be a British citizen.

The nationality of the employee must match that of the home base of the employer-corporation. So German-German, French-French, etc. also works. Not all countries have trade treaties though, so no Indians, Russians, Mexicans, Brazilians, among others, can get E-1's or E-2's.
