Cost of moving.....
 

Hello!

Does anyone know the cost to move a small car from the UK to the US?

I have tried to get quotes from moving companies and none of them will
answer me. I did get one quote and that was just a VERY rough estimate.

Any help would appreciated.

I imput "international moves" and got many pages, some of which were "co.uk"
urls. If you aren't having luck with an online quote service, call the number
on the websites instead. Simpsons Removals came up first in the search, and is
UK based. Hope this helps.

We used McGimpsey's Removals out of Northern Ireland - they serve all of the UK, I believe.

We didn't ship a car, however, we shipped stuff that was the size and weight of one! Our total cost was bout £1100.

Just as a side note, after living in the US for 11 months my husband still approaches the wrong side of the car sometimes! ;)

I can top that .....after 3 months being here Steve terrified myself and Ian by trying to go out the in at our local mall during the height of Christmas Shopping Season!! (Wrong US side of road, but would have been ok for UK) It was at night too...so I told him not to worry..they probably just think he's drunk....ROFL!

Isn't that the best? Philip did that, too, at first. I haven't seen him do it for a while, though. There were times when he'd be on a long stretch of highway with nothing coming and I'd just keep my mouth shut for as long as I could until eventually saying, "Well, honey, maybe you could start driving on the correct side of the road now."

However, his UK driving skill was VERY welcomed when I was driving through and Indianapolis suburb and came upon TWO roundabouts! For a while I thought I would end up saying "Look kids, Big Ben! Parliament!"

Oh...I trust Steve's driving far more than my own. What they have to go through to get their licence I think they are superior drivers.

Most of my family is now in Chicago, I warned Steve how difficult Chitown traffic is, when we returned home after his first trip there, he informed me that it wasn't a problem at all, that I'd made more of it than need be. LOL!!

LOL, we just built a roundabout in Milwaukee... people can't get used to it
and have caused a number of accidents and near misses. Alan wonders how we
can be smart enough to get a license but not smart enough to navigate a
roundabout. I just keep reminding him of how flustered he gets at a 4-way
stop sign with people in each direction! That usually quiets him for a
bit...
