That's why if possible it's best to live in the country which uses the same currency as your income. That was one good thing about earning euro's , you didn't suffer from exchange rate fluctuations across europe.
Unfortunately it's hard , if not impossible to convert pensions into local currency.

Hopefully it will still be the same in 20 years time, but they keep saying the SS money will run out at some point. Also I am not sure if the prediction from the pension company was in today's money or in predicted income in 20 years time.
