4. house insurance $1200pa inc contents plus flood ins $420pa
5. water costs $80-100 pm depending if i top pool up
6. food - we spend for 2 adults 150-200 a week, but we eat decent food not sh1te fast food.you could live on less. salads and veggies are expensive. that includes wine
7. car tax/disc- cant recall but its peanuts

If you want to buy residency, the easiest method is to put $500k on the table.

Doubt it cost me more than $2k. But the question is what the OP would need to secure residency.

Are you thinking about retiring in Florida...or is this for some type of book/blog? If you wish to move to the US...what type of visa will you have?

Thousands of out of work teachers in the US. From what you've told us you will not be able to get a visa to live here. You can visit the US for up to 90 days...or if you are retired you may be able get a visa to stay for 6 months per year.

Once you reach senior citizen status you will probably be able to get reduced bus fairs and lower prices when you go out to the movies - that's about it ...
