Cost of importing (by post) a purchase into the US?
Hi guys, I'm wondering if one of you may know the answer to this.
I'm trying to get a couple of colour-changing hoodies; the ones that are temperature sensitive. I can't find any more US suppliers for them but there's someone on eBay selling them who lives in the UK.
Does anyone know how much I'd pay on US import charges if I got a package in the mail from overseas with a value of just under $100? (Or just over if postage costs are included.) I know you can send gifts into the UK under a certain amount ($100?) and packages to yourself under a certain amount ($200?) duty-free, but I don't know what the guideline is for purchases.
Thanks!

I've never been charged anything and I've had several packages with a declared value over 200 quid.

Ditto. I've never seen a bill from US Customs for anything, including a UKL2000 print shipped in with a formal customs form from the UK shipper.
