[QUOTE=edwords]Has anyone else here eaten at the Cornish Pasty Company in Tempe, Arizona?
Might have to try that one.
Have you heard of Pete's fish and chips.
I saw a girl wearing a t-shirt with it on yesterday, wanted to chase her down, rugby tackle her and find out where it was (does that sound desperate or what). Anyway lost sight of her.
I did a search on the web and there are a few in the valley.
www.petesfishandchips.com
Nearest one to me is on Mesa Dr and Southern I think.
Anyway anybody heard or tried them, if so any good???????

Mesa Dr. is closest to me, too. I 'll have to check them out, but the lack of beer on tap is a significant disincentive.

I'm sure there's a place that sells it nearby.
We are gonna try and go this weekend, but let me know if you get there first and whether its worth it.
The last place we tried to find was in Fountain Hills, called the Cod Father.
Got there and it was closed down.........................

I didn't see curry sauce on the menu, it can't be a real fish & chip shop if there's no curry sauce!

Re: Cornish Pasty Company
a friend of mine from michigan visited illinois recently, they make cornish pasties in his local area, a throwback from the miners who moved there years ago. he couldnt get the fresh ones so got me two different frozen ones, out the oven both were good, one was better than the other as it didnt have some MSG in as did the other. If im not mistaken though even ginsters in UK has MSG in???? i'd need to verify that but both were more better than ginsters, more homemade. Ginsters are more a commercial product i know.
Anyway the pasties were good and some of the better 'real' food ive had in the USA, like some amazing fried perch, BBQ ribs and fries (fat like Uk chips) down in chicago city! when i say real food i mean that which evolved for pragmatic reasons and eaten by most people.
bugman.

This thread is not fair ! I haven't found any good english food joints around here at all !...... We have a couple of "English Pubs", but they usually end up consisting of a bar that serves British imported beer and not a lot else.

My favourite is the 'lunch box', for those of you that don't know what that is, it's chips, a sausage, a small piece of fish with the choice of curry sauce, mushy peas, baked beans or gravy. Yummy, I had 2 while I was home.

Morrisons do a decent line in pies and pasties.
However, if you go here they are the best cornish pasties I've ever had. Don't think they've got any in the north though. I went to them in Cardiff.
Bloody ell I'm starving.
