I've been there a few times and their pork pies are pretty good. I wasn't too impressed with the cornish pasties though. They have a pretty good selection of stuff including proper sausages and bacon. A warning though - once I went and they didn't have some of the stuff I wanted because they hadn't been able to make them for a while (something to do with getting ingredients) so it's probably worth a call before making a special trip.

I love Myers of Keswick pork pies - mouth watering at the thought right now.
Also their mince pies are excellent - I took a load to my office christmas lunch and they went down a storm.

Thanks for the information. I have just searched on the internet and I found it. I think I will be taking a trip there sometime in the next week or so.

I always bought them before coming here but couldn't find anything like them here in the south, bought some from the brit shop but they were frozen and for god knows how long and were rank so one day after making too much tater ash I made pasties with the left overs I'd been making my own pastry for years so that wasn't a problem, the pasties were lovely so I make them for everyone now and have taught my daughter in laws how to, they didn't have any idea how to start with making pastry and it took them ages to learn but they managed it, I do a great cheese and onion pasty too, which wasn't easy for people to try here, anyway try making your own and you'll love them and know what goes into them, funny thing I went home recently and had to have a Greggs pasty, was really disappointed.

We've been today and bought loads of stuff but they didn't have any cornish pasties. We ate some sausage rolls and scotch pies, mmm...., in the car on the way back and are having cheese 'n' onion pasties for tea. Also got some proper pork pies, some bridies(?), pork sausage, potato cakes and loads of chocolate. It cost us $80 but who cares? I think I'll be going there quite a lot now I know where it is.

I was desperate for them, never thought about making them until last year. My grandmother (a born and bred cornishwoman), was a brilliant maker of pasties...they were the size of a dinner plate. In the end I decided to have a go and make some myself....buggar me they were GREAT. It wasn't as difficult as I thought and the smell when they were baking reminded me of sitting in my grandmothers kitchen while she cooked.

Go on make some yourself....they will be tons better than any you could buy....honest

Would you care to share the recipe or is it a family secret?
