www.myersofkeswick.com

We went to this shop in NY but by the time we got there it had closed for the day, 6.30pm, so I don't know how good their cornish pasties are.

www.teaandsympathynewyork.com/home.php

However we did go to this place and when we got there, there was a real chippy, a british 'corner shop' and Tea & Sympathy next door to each other. We bought loads of Walkers crisps, $1.00 a packet and the kids bought some chocolate and sweets. We also went to the chippy and had pie and chips which we ate outside on a bench. All 3 places are run by Brits and seem to be very popular.

Really? We found Scotch eggs to be really easy to make - just make sure you have the right amount of sausagemeat per egg. We found that a couple of ounces works best - less than that doesn't seem like enough, and more than that makes them take too long. You either end up with uncooked sausagemeat or burnt black scotch eggs. Aside from that, nowt too complex - just egg, sausagemeat, beaten egg, breadcrumbs, more beaten egg and more breadcrumbs, and all deep fried.

Tried oven baking them once, and they turned out alright, but not as good as deep fried. I suppose you could oven bake 'em and then fry them crisp if you wanted to use more sausagemeat, but personally I can't be arsed.

sounds good, but nont into deep frying....that and the missus can't stand eggs, oh the shame, so not worth the effort for me
Make up for it at the local bar though as there bar snacks are hard boiled eggs

Has anyone tried the frozen Jamaican Patties, they are a little bit spicier but gorgous when they come out of the over. SImilar texture and all...

SOld in local supermarkets and Sams or Costco (can't remember which).

How concidental is that, I knew a place in Brighton about 20 years ago, it didn't sell pasties but it shut down too... Small world.
