Coolzone winterplex to be built in Dallas

Resembling an alpine skiing village and featuring first-rate hotel accommodations, fine dining and retail stores, the Coolzone Winterplex will offer the level of entertainment expected from a world-class theme park. The park’s main attraction is an over 60-acre, 20-story outdoor ski and snowboard mountain, complete with chair lifts, a snowboard park with competition halfpipe, toboggans, and, ski tubing. In addition to catering to extreme sports enthusiasts, the park will also feature activities for the entire family including two ice rinks, an outdoor ice trail, a winter wonderland for children with snow, an outdoor concert venue, rock climbing, and, rides. The Winterplex will use Snowflex, a new technology developed by Briton Engineering. It is currently in use at some Olympic training parks and in Europe. Snowflex incorporates a hydrogenated, multi-layered skiing mat that mimics real packed powder, providing mountain snow-like conditions

Thats what we need in 103 degree heat is snow.

Looks like the Snowflex ski surface is made in Britain.

If you've ever skied on a dry ski slope, even one like this with liquid lubrication, you'll know that falling involves stripping off a layer of skin from any exposed part of your body that hits the mat. Add that to the 103deg heat here in Dallas right now, and this could be an expensive way to get both sunburn and carpet burn all in one!

Still, if they open it, I'll be right there standing in line on the opening day! I can't imagine anything I'd like more right now that somehwere to ski that close to home!!!

One of my friends works for Briton Engineering (the company that makes snowflex). I hope this means he'll get a free trip to Dallas ;-)

sounds like they really need one of the indoor real snow slopes like in Milton Keynes or Dubai (even hotter than TX!).
