Converting money ££$$$
Hi there people.....
I am wondering how you converted your UK money into US?
Ive come across a site xe.com who look good and was wondering if anyone had heard of them and if they were reputable?
What value did u get etc, did it run smoothly?
Our bank account in England is with Smile.co.uk (co-op)
Cheers

Hi Lee
I have just been using Barlacys telephone banking to send TT's. It seems to work well. If you're trasnferring over 25k GBP you will usually get the commercial rate, as oppossed to the tourist rate.
Saying that the GBP is very strong at the moment, so I have been using my Barclaycard to buy things here, and then pay online using my UK funds. At least this way I do not incurr a transfer fee and Barclaycard use the rate for the day of the transaction
Hope this helps
Chris

I've used XE.com several times - there are NO charges for transfering money - they make their cash on the bid offer spread between but and sell rates
i transfer money from my Uk account to my US gfriends bank of america account - using the free EFT transfer
not amazingly quick but I got a rate of 1.62 last week
