Container Shipment 2019 (UK to US)
Hi all,
i have scanned through the forums but couldn’t fond many recent posts on this topic.
Has anyone got recent~ish 2019 experience of shipping household items from UK to US (Chicago)?
If so, how much did it cost? How long it took? And with whom?
Many Thanks for any help.

More info required:
Are you talking about filling a 20ft container? 40ft?
Buying container movement yourself or using an international moving company?
for a 20ft to Chicago I estimate £4k self pack but done by a mover. 4-6 week transit time.
Lots of companies out there

I moved a 20ft container 12 months ago to Dayton, Ohio for ~£6k. Yours should be cheaper as direct to a port like Chicago takes quite a bit off the onward transport price. £4k might be on the cheaper side; I would expect £4k-£5k direct to a port city.
Try Eagle relocations for a quote. Where in UK are you?

We moved in 2017, so not recently, but just a heads-up NOT to use Simpsons. We did, and had a bad experience with them. I would recommend you check out removal company customer reviews on sites other than their own website. We were very naive and didn’t do that, and bitterly regret not doing so as we discovered, too late, that other customers had had exactly the same issues as we did. Good luck!

We will be moving from Surrey to Chicago in Feb so I'm about to look into this: any recommendations would be highly welcome
