Confused over taxes :-S

Hi all

I am confused over US taxes  Could someone give me an idea (like a %) of how much you pay?
As I understand it, because we (me & partner) will be J visa holders, we do not pay the full taxes etc as a US resident would?

I have read about people filling in their tax forms? When is the end of the financial year in usa? My partner starts work full time on 1st July 2013 for 1 year. I will be working part-time as soon as my work permit comes through. After a year, we will be coming back to the uk.
Do we need to have all our forms etc and money paid before we leave for the uk?

Thanks

True... but only if you leave the US within 2 years. If you stay one day over, you'll suddenly owe back taxes and probably fines for those overdue taxes.

December 31.

Not for US tax purposes, no.
