Concert tickets
Specifically The Eagles in Las Vegas in November. Wife loves them and I like them too, and it'd be a nice surprise for her birthday. Ticketmaster prices start at $70+, resellers $100+. Any tips on getting cheaper tickets for this kind of thing, if that is even possible? I know Las Vegas often has show tickets reduced but I've no idea whether this kind of event would be included in that.
Also, are there any direct sellers for events in general other than Ticketmaster? I'm not too keen on using the resellers, wrongly or rightly. I remember in the UK different sellers often had different blocks of seats.
Am wondering whether to just turn up and see if there are any scalpers on the day...

Scalpers on the day are almost certain to have higher prices, assuming a sell out. They will not leave you with a peaceful easy feeling.

And there was a "open source" jobby in the local paper recently, where the venue/band put up the tickets directly.
It's mostly down to how much you save on the service costs...that and checking out FB groups for people who have brought tickets but have to cancel. There are loads going for decent money for events in Boston from the Boston Brit groups.

Oh you're so funny not!
Thanks. They need to get their Google page rankings up.
MGM Grand Garden Arena. They've got some other dates as well elsewhere but seem to be solo events.
I doubt they'll be touring much more after this tour so I guess I'll have to stump up the $70+ each hidden charges, fees, bungs, service charges, delivery charge, processing fee, handling fee, tax, printing fee, ink fee, paper fee, hologram fee, oxygen supply fee, and everything else.

Could try stubhub.com. Prices vary, but the sales are backed up and your money is safe.

Re: Concert tickets
Eagles at MGM will be a tough one to find 'discounts' for any tix.
I lived years in Vegas, and the good concerts, like Eagles and Stones - well all the good tickets get bought up by the scalpers to begin with - then sell at a premium right through the beginning of the show.
$70 is a great price for Eagles (even adding on all the 'fees'.) Have you seen anything at MGM? The cheap seats are not always with full view (and the $70 ticket I'd assume the upper upper seats). I bought Sting tickets off LV Craigslist about at face value but had a column in front of the section.
The Eagles in concert is one of the BEST concerts that I've been to (and I've been to over to dozens Stones concerts...)
MGM is a very big arena. Living there, I tried to avoid MGM concerts because it is such a big arena...but it seems they aren't in a group elsewhere or did I misunderstand their tour dates?
As for other concerts in Vegas - depends on the artist. I bought Hank Williams, Jr. tickets off ticketmaster for Caesar's - the venue was half full. As I'd bought cheap seats, the usher simply took me down to two levels and I was in great seats. I did see tickets being given out in the high roller room, and a few bucks being exchanged with ushers for better seats. I see Hank does much smaller venues now in Vegas!
MGM concerts usually are the big names and secondary market of tickets rarely is cheaper. MGM also never does local's deals on concert tickets either, so locals don't get into resale of them. Watch Craig's List LV of course, but for Eagles, IMO, buy them directly through ticketmaster as you'll know what you are getting. (Then again, I bought Stevie Nicks tix for the MGM for $10 each on CL - apparently the concert wasn't popular...)
Go for it! The concert is great!
ETA: I got food poisoning at the Hotel California in Todos Santos, Mexico. BTW, the rumor is a rumor - the Eagles didn't write about THIS hotel. I did get to see the inside of a Mexican hospital, though.

Thanks.
Oh, might try the fan club if there is one. I once got Meat Loaf tickets at the Royal Albert Hall for face value just a few weeks before the concert that way. Seated 4 rows from stage front but, like everybody else, got up and stood in front of the stage instead! Excellent concert.
