It has not changed in years.You do not have to carry ANY driver documents in the UK whilst driving a Motor vehicle on a road.When stopped by a Police Officer he has the right to demand to see it,however if you do not have it on you, he will issue you with a HO/RT/1 for you(the driver) to produce which documents he req's to see.You will be given 7 CLEAR days as of midnight on the day you were stopped to produce such documents at a designated Police Station of your choice.However with so many now closed or part time its difficult to find one open or a cop to answer the bloody door in case its a job?. Didn't I read that an ultra-violet light would soon prove a a DL was forged or not here in the States? Quite an inexpensive, quick and easy way to check it to me.

But for not having a licence on me ...I got a citation for
the magnificent amount of $7.50 which I will pay ..
