Default Colorado driving test...

...is a a piece of piss, in case anybody's worried! We just drove round the block, and that was it! It took 15 minutes, if that.

The annoying bit was waiting for the paperwork afterwards.

This is a common trend across the country. I did mine a few years ago Denver, the test lasted no more than 10 minutes-- made four turns, pulled up behind a car and that was it. Nothing compared to 30 minute comprehensive driving test back in Blighty these days.

Oh well, congratulations, now you can join the rest of us nutters in your mandatory 4WD.

Maybe now you will understand why 'most' CO drivers don't understand what a green light means

Although, to be fair, it's not much different than most other States

I know its scary isn't it. My son took his test 6 months ago. Said all he did was drive around the block: no hill starts, three point turns or parking.

I am just thankful that he had hours and hours of us taking him out in the car. Practice, practice, practice. We even made sure that he learnt in a manual. When he got back after the test the examiner told me he was pleasantly surprised when he realised that our son was driving a manual. Said these days he rarely sees that.

It is scary, especially when you know that a lot of parents seem to think that drivers ed' is all they need to compete on the roads here!

I actually have to stop on a yellow light now. With DS frequently making comments of "if you were in Denver you'd have gone through that light."

It is not uncommon to see two or three cars accelerate through a red, certainly in the city. Let's not mention all of those drivers who suddenly forget what "No turn on Red" means

Yup, where else do you have to check the car behind you won't hit you if you stop at the red light.
