Coaching

Has anyone coached kids in any sports over here ? Been appointed coach of a girls U-10 league team near here, and was wondering if anyone had any experiences to share ?

My husband (American) coached little league soccer. He said it was hell on earth but that was because of the other parents. Eventually he walked off the pitch mid match, threw his stuff at a mother from hell and never went back.

Yeah I heard Travel is a bitch, parents think they have the right to ring you at midnight demanding to know why their precocious brat never played last week. I am doing rec league, less stress & no heart attacks. Did the Grade E state coaching course a couple of weekends ago. You need Grade D to do travel round here though. Still sounds as if it will be fun, managed to get the wife to agree to be the asst. coach. I think she is worried by all them soccer moms liking my 'cool British accent' :D

Working with the kids is great. Dealing with the parents is a pain in the *ss.

That's just what Mr Sibsie went through. He's the most laid back, easy going dude on the planet but the mum's managed to wind him up no end.
