Clear Lake (Houston) Celtic Music Festival & Highland Games

I received the following message today. Thought some of the Houston folks might be interested.

So, you want to go to a real party?

Saturday, October 20th, 2007: 10th Annual Clear Lake Celtic Music Festival & Highland Games

Real men in kilts! One of the most colorful festivals in Houston featuring live music, dance, food and beverages at Landolt Pavilion, Clear Lake Park, NASA Rd 1. Open Noon to 10PM. Admission: $10, kids free. ½ Price Admission after 6PM. ½ Price Beverages after 7PM. Maps and more at: www.CelticMusicAssociation.com or call Jeannie Kearns at 713-365-9648.

Performance highlights:

On his first U.S. tour, from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Troy MacGillivray! Troy is one the world's great young Celtic fiddlers who has recorded no less than 15 CDs of precise traditional Scottish Aires, Strathspeys, Jigs, and Reels. Troy is also accomplished on the keyboards and step dances well, a trait that seems universal in Cape Breton. Troy is certain to please all the purists who have rare chances to hear a fiddler of his caliber. http://www.TroyMacGillivray.com

Returning for their 2nd appearance in Clear Lake, Needfire! These guys are certain to jump start all the high-energy Celtic music lovers who know the best when they hear it. If you saw them last time, you know they are very upbeat to say the least. Needfire has a contagious good time on stage and many have been asking for a repeat performance. http://www.Needfire.com

The Cass Academy of Irish Dance! No one can get enough of these kids at the festival. Erin Cass has trained the most talented and delightful troupe of dancers you'll see anywhere. Always colorful and incredibly skilled, they'll steal your heart, and the show. http://cassacademy.com/start.htm

Proceeds benefit children's education through the International Space School Foundation, KPFT public radio, and St. Brendan's Project. Maps and more at http://www.CelticMusicAssociation.com or email [email protected].
