Default Class 2 Voluntary National Insurance Contributions

I recently received and paid the bill from HMRC NICO for 2017-2018 Class 2 Voluntary National Insurance Contributions. I recall hearing something about this being the last year of class 2 voluntary being allowed. Has anyone heard if a definitive decision has been issued by HMRC for future years and if so what that decision is?

The final year for Class 2 is the current year, 2018-2019. I'm paying by direct debit and waiting to see what communication comes my way as the countdown to the demise of Class 2 approaches.

Is there a deadline for paying past years? Although I filled out the form saying that i wanted them to take payment for the past years, nothing happened so need to call - and that never seems to happen.

What do you mean by "wanted them to take payment for the past years"? I do not believe they will take payment for past years by direct debit. You have to provide payment.

I received a statement from HMRC for all the past years I could catch up a couple of years ago, starting 2011 and up to the current tax year at the time. It showed me how much I needed to pay for every year. It had a deadline of "April 4th 2019" to pay ALL of the years. I sent my payment via XE last week including the statement I just received for 2017 - let's see what happens...
