Yes.

But you can get that information instantly online now. https://www.gov.uk/check-state-pension. A few people have had issues setting up an account but most of us have no problems accessing the system,

Thanks tdrinker, good to know!

I've been struggling to find where it states this. Found it eventually on this document, page 14:
Class 2 NICs – monthly payments will be collected monthly, 4 months in arrears. Each payment will cover either 4 or 5 weeks, depending on the number of Sundays in the month for which the payment is due.

I've looked at this; it says I need to pay 800-odd pounds per year for missing years. I think those amounts are class 3 contributions, when I know I'm eligible to pay class 2. So I think that forecast is generic - it doesn't take account of particular circumstances (like work history).

Yes, as you state, those are generic Class 3 rates because they do not know yet know your work history or that you now work overseas. Once they process that they should apply the Class 2 rates so long as you qualify which you most likely do. But, it will be long wait for a reply, likely sometime early summer of 2024. But perhaps they will improve upon that.

For anyone wondering what the current time line is, my wife logged in this weekend to find that she should expect to receive a response to her CF38, which was received in February, 2023, by February, 2024. It said that they are currently dealing with CF38s received in September, 2023.

I sent my CF83 2 weeks ago - first class USPS.
Does anyone remember - how long after posting yours, did the HMRC website (https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/track) acknowledge the form had been received?
Is it weeks, months, ....what should I expect?

I posted my CF83 on 14 July from Wisconsin. Today I logged in to the gateway and there's this note below. No reference number and it wasn't an online form so I'm not sure what that's about. I may call them to verify that this is in fact my CF83, although I can't think what else it could be.

and I went through the When Can You Expect A Reply online helper and got this:

Another thing - do you remember which address you sent it to? The form says post it to

PT Operations North East England
HM Revenue and Customs
BX9 1AN
United Kingdom

...but there are reports on the forum of forms not arriving due to the fact there is no POST TOWN in the address, for example Newcastle, which befuddles USPS or whoever the carrier is.

The form does not mention this, but if you use a courier to send it, HMRC website says use a different address

HM Revenue and Customs
BP8002
Benton Park View
Newcastle Upon Tyne
NE98 1ZZ
United Kingdom

It's still early for me to get too concerned - USPS hasn't returned it to me yet, so maybe it's fine. But the clock is ticking and it's taking HMRC 40-odd weeks to process after receipt.

This is normal for many organizations. The first is just a mailing address, the second is a physical address for couriers. If you sent by USPS to the first address you should be fine. That's what my wife did.

I've been monitoring my form tracker on the app for a while. It has now changed status from received but not processed due to delays to this form type 'online' ( Not sure what this means - have they read it and just waiting for a response now) By snail mail? Wish they would send an email!

Hi all,

When your direct debits were set up for class 2 NI contributions were you advised by letter only (overseas)?
Or on the app also? Did they just start taking money out?

Been 4 months since I sent in my form. Nothing in messages.
Form tracker just says 'online' and 'received'
