Should I buy a state pension top-up? Daytoday News

In my recent dealings with all this I have found the Pensions Centre to be very helpful.

I got from the NI folks a list of years they would let me backpay, (10 of them) and the pensions folks (by phone) helped me identify which years (only 4 out of the 10) would add to my pension and which were not worth paying.

Looks like they’re going to scrap the plan to remove Class 2 NICs.

I don't think I'll get much better news than that today!

Although what a British state pension will be worth after Brexit destroys the economy is anyone’s guess.

I finally paid for 5 years of Class 2 NICs, using my UK bank account. The money has left my account, so I hope it eventually gets credited to my NI account. Only time will tell. I used the account details they have online for SortCode/Account number&name/Ref number.

well done, it looks like it will show up in your record in a month or 2, which was how long it took for my wife’s payment to show. (We logged onto her account every week until it appeared)

as soon as you see a check cashed you may call the following number for HMRC and request payment be credit to you. It sounds like you paid electronically, so I’d give it a week from transfer date, then call
011441912037010

I did precisely this earlier today. Credited my 30th and final unit ( ran out of time to get 35 units)

Hi Durham what is this account of which you speak. Is it an an online account with the dwp? Apologies if you’re simply referring to your wife’s bank account.

Go online at https://www.gov.uk/personal-tax-acco...prove-identity and create a government gateway account. You can view your National Insurance and tax history.

thank you for that. Trouble is they want a u.k. address to confirm my identity. I have not had one of those In forty years, and they rejected my U.S. address. I will keep working with it. Many thanks anyway chawkins99

I registered for this and opened an account whilst residing in the US. Still here and it's active.

Yes, this is the website and account I was referring to. I have had this account since before I left the USA so I don’t understand why the website insists on a UK address since there are large numbers of expats in many countries.
