Nope! That's exactly what they look like. I lived there as a baby and my parents have experienced them. That's a picture from a news site.

Yep, I have seen a couple in the middle east, thats definately what they look like on the way in; when they get there, depending on severity and sunlight, it sometimes goes a bit reddy/martian looking. The sand gets everywhere, not least right up your nose - best to stay in if its a real thick one.
