Hi!!
Quick question...is there a time limit as to after getting permanent status when my Husband from UK can apply for citizenship? He wants to be a cop but has to be a citizen :/

5 years legally in the US total (i think), but someone more knowledgable will be along shortly I am sure. If you get no answers in the next couple of hours, post (or ask the mods to move) to the immigration section.

90 days before the 3rd anniversary of becoming a permanent resident if married to a US and complying with all the other requirements.

You need to have been married to the US citizen for the full 3 years at the time of application.

Some states allow you to be a cop with just a green card. I think it has been discussed in the careers board a few times.
