Citizenship

Greetings All from Michigan,
This is my first post on the forums (hope i can be a valued contributor in the future).
Anyway i have been residing in the US now for 11 years and have recently been thinking about the whole Citizenship thing and have a couple of questions
that i'm hoping someone can clue me in on.

1st, are there any pro's or con's to becoming a citizen besides the obvious, being able to vote.
2nd, would i have to give up my british citizenship on becoming a US citizen?

3rd, what about passports, could i hold both (lets be honest its nice having that resident card with the uk passport at both ends of a flight) ?

4th, anything else i should know or advice?

Cheers in advance

Ian

I'll just throw in that yes, you can have the 2 passports (didn't seem immediately clear in the link).

I'll have a sandwich... thanks.

If you're a guy, prior to the naturalization ceremony they give you testosterone implants to make your voice deeper.

You can also elect to have an optional procedure where they extract all the whiny that is usually found in the British male, and replace it with a spine.

Re: Citizenship

I have a couple of questions about the citizenship test:

Where can I find more information about the Rules of American Football section?
Will I fail if I don't misspell flavour, colour etc?
When they ask about the number of states, is it OK to say 49 and explain that I don't beleive North Dakota should be a state, as it's really South Canada?

TIA

Tuna sarni mixed with mayo and sweet pickle.

The rain is getting me down. I can't cope with it. Getting on three days without the sun, and everything's damp.

I absolutely LOVE our drizzly, gloomy weather! Yes, seriously! It's those endless blue skies with no clouds that gets me down...no variety. I love the crisp cool air, and the smell of the desert after the rain. I love to see the clouds from my office window. I want to be out hiking at South Mountain!!

When we moved to Oregon (rain forest) from N California (120F all summer), my mom told us the rain is "good for your skin".

Put that in your cactus and smoke it.

You can change your name I believe. I know a Hungarian that changed his name to Harold Macmillan.

The main disadvantages that I am aware of are:
  • You will have to find a new excuse for getting out of jury duty.
  • You no longer get to say "don't blame me" when people complain about their elected representatives.
  • You have to file US tax returns on your entire worldwide income forever.

I don't know if the procedure has changed since I did it in April 2001 but the questionaire was a piece of cake....by the time the guy had got done explaining what I needed to do (out of habit because I can actually read) I had it finished.

The ceremony was quite emotional for me. I have no regrets.
