Got my chicago to dublin return last week with AA for $450. That's now jumped to $550 though interestingly Air Fungus have dropped their price from $560 to $510.
Generally though you're right - prices appear to have gone up.

Usually half that price to Manchester in October....and you usually get better deals flying into London.

Aparently Virgin have been doing seat sales - a friend came to visit last week and she saw seats for 160gbp although she'd already booked her ticket by then.

I managed to get my mother and my daughter's flight for about $550 each for the Xmas holidays.

I usually just play with the dates until the best price shows up.

Plenty of direct trans-atlantic carriers operating out of ord though - tough market to get into i'd say with aa, bmi, ba, air fungus and klm there already.
