Question Christmas crackers

My daughter is going back to the UK for a few days at the end of the month (lucky thing !!!) and I'm going to get her to stock up on some Xmas goodies, will she be able to bring back Xmas crackers?? I did a quick search and found some yes some no answers, anyone know the latest info?

You need to declare them to customs and the carrier as explosives and have them properly checked through since they will be picked up if they are in a bag and then its time for some explaining.

They sold a large range in Pier 1 last year. All of them made in the UK.

I did buy some from Pier 1 last year, she was going to pick up some silly kids ones for the little ones, can't seem to find any like that over here. I did find some on e-bay but the shipping was crazy
So would she have to hand carry them AWP? She is going home with my friend, maybe would be better to have her declare them?

No. She would need to declare them to the carrier (pre airline check in) and let them decide how they wanted to carry them....most likely in the hold. Daft for some xmas crackers I know but under the current climate you really dont want a sniffer dog pulling you up for having explosive chemicals in a bag. The chemical that makes the pop is silver fulminate which is a primary explosive and will be detected. Be prepared to spend a while in processing at immigrations explaining that if you dont declare them.

You could always buy them there & send them back to yourself here. I'm sure it probably wouldn't cost too much, they're pretty light.
