Default Chip/PIN US credit cards yet?

Hi,

Anyone got US issued VISA/MC cards that have chip and PIN (not chip and signature), ideally no annual fee and no foreign transaction fees? Seems like banks and merchants are still not adopting this technology here in the US.

Thanks

I've not seen them in my neck of the woods yet....all of the merchants have the " swipe" magnetic stripe reader style, rather than the "insert" chip reader style.

My husband's BofA credit card has a chip in it and no foreign transaction fees.

They're coming but very slowly. In the US, chip-and-pin cards are mostly being issued as affinity cards and ultra-premium cards. Check this blog, though it isn't entirely current.

USAA issues chip and PIN and Barclays is rumoured to be planning chip and PIN.

Most EMV cards in the US are, as you note, chip and sign.

Is it chip and PIN? Consumer Citi cards are not, they're chip and sign.

They have no idea in Houston anyway, so they do the same as always. I have not had cause to use it in a chip & pin country since getting it.

That's starting to change, merchants are starting to get EMV enabled. Anyways, that wasn't the question - the question was is it chip and PIN or chip and signature (like Citi's consumer cards)?

My Chase cards have chips but I don't think any of then have pins assigned to them. The previous versions I've had from Chase have been chip & sign.

Many cards have chips but I do not think that chip and PIN is operating anywhere.

MidAtlantic, do you mean cards or merchants. So far it is only on select USAA and one Barclay's card.

For merchants, there are a small number of EMV enabled merchants. Fewer than 1%.

It is only certain USAA cards.
