Child Passport Documentation

My wife and I have to go in person to the London Embassy to get our boys American passports, they are 5 months old now.

The required documentation is listed here:

Does anyone know if they will want to keep the documentation/evidence after the appointment and if so how long for? If they need to hold on to it for processing can I provide pre-paid special delivery envelope for them to mail it back to me?

I suggest that, in addition to the originals, you make photocopies and take them with you. If they want to keep the evidence, hand over the photocopies.
