Depends on what you mean by affordable. We can afford the daycares around us but I don't consider them affordable, you probably won't get much change from $12,000 a year with maybe a week vacation where you don't have to pay. You may also find that $12,000 a year on the cheap side.

Childcare for my nephew with a live out nanny is $46,000 a year with 5 paid sick pays and 10 days paid vacation plus healthcare and that is one child.

Ooops not to make you nervous ... that is not in Vegas.

I know it something I'm considering when I retire in a few years. I can handle a child, especially if it is in the child's home and the child is a normal, healthy rugrat.
