I'm pregnant with my 4th too (big surprise to us!) and I've been through the c-section once and natural birth twice. I'm having a homebirth this time much much easier than major surgery.

Was your c-section with your first? Most doctors are nervous about letting anyone with a previous section have a home birth due to risk of uterine rupture. (Yes, I know it's small, and I risked it by having an induced VBAC.)

....but don't get the epidural until she's 6 cm. She'll thank us later.

Nope the section was with my 3rd. The trick is not to see a doctor and only see a midwife

hmmm i thought it was because U.S doctors are worried about possible problems...it's much safer to cut open mum....it's a bit of a sue happy nation the consequence tends to be limited choice for the woman...i have a good friend to chose vbac with no problems but she is in the U.K

Yeah, plus with Vag births you can always get the doctor to put in a couple extra stiches for that 'New Car' feel....

Look on the bright side.

You'll probably pick up some colorful language you have never heard before(directed at you of course), from your missus when she's going through transition

Having had 3 different types of birth, give me vaginal with an epidural anyday. Even having stitches in a certain place beats a C-S anyday.
