Cheapest way to hire car in US
Hello
I'm in Marietta, north of Atlanta, GA and looking for advise on cheapest way to hire a car in USA. For past couple of weeks I have been hiring a car but I'm still here for couple of months, so that will become expensive.
Therefore, I wonder if someone can offer advice on if there's an alternative. I'm on a budget so don't want to spend to much. I'm also not too bothered bout what kind of car it is, as long as I can get to A - B, it's fine.
Hope someone can advise
Thanks in advance!

Be careful with Rent a Wreck. By definition the cars are not in pristine condition so it's very important to do a thorough inspection before you take the car off the lot. I was once burned by them for damage to the car that I missed on the inspection but noticed when I got home. Seems that I'm not alone:
Top 11 Complaints and Reviews about Rent-A-Wreck
"This company is claiming a bumper was damaged on a car that we rented. The company said I overlook the damage to the bumper when we had to circle all marks on the car prior to renting the car. The car bumper had a tied-down on the body of the car. The car had a lot of chip paint marks. We did not hit or got hit when we had this car. It is a shame. God will win this battle."

What if you bring this back and they try to tell you that some of the damage is your responsibility?

Thanks guys for replies.
I agree, not worth the risk with such companies.
I'll keep searching for long term rentals to see if I can get a better deal for couple of months car hire.
Cheapest monthly rentals I find are just over $1000 with tax and basic insurance, does this sound about right?

Autoslash
Flyertalk to look for discount codes across all the companies.
Check/compare every possible viable pick-up location, and consider returning and re-renting during the period.
Use Expedia only as a baseline.

Avoiding the airport pickup and return can save $$$.
Look for a city location away from and airport.

we live in the 'burbs of Austin - if I put "Austin " in the search for a car rental it is more expensive than if I put in "Cedar Park" which is 5 miles the other way. BUT here's the funny thing - we pick it up from the same location!
