Charlston SC - DC road trip
 

I will be on business over the weekend in Charlston SC and will then have to drive back to Washington DC.

Can anybody recommend where to stop on my route back overnight.

Equally can anybody suggest if there are any interesting places to sightsee etc on my drive down.

It's easily driveable in a day (I've done roughly this journey a few times), but maybe you aren't leaving first thing in the morning? It's a bit sparse along the way but if you did want to break the journey in half them maybe a detour into Raleigh or somewhere thereabouts might fit the bill.

I've planned a few of these sorts of trips and Google Maps and TripAdvisor were my best friends.
