Then you should also know that failure to furnish is the charge that is laid if the respondent does not complete the form. The idiot CPS usually add on the underlying charge as well, but this can never succeed without the s172 signed admission.

Let us step back and go to the original matter. I ask how a summons can be issued to a person named on a s172 (for the offence of failure to furnish OR when an offence can not be dealt with by way of a fixed penalty and requires a court to adjudicate) when living in the United States. A summons from a British magistrates court would be unenforceable abroad.
You then state that 'the driver is unable to furnish an address to which a summons can be issued. Gets arrested'.
Prey tell me how plod is going to arrest a person permanently domiciled in the United States for such an offence? As that is what you're suggesting right now.

Yeah, what I said further back in the thread.
Anyway in Alberta (and BC) it's illegal to hold more than one licence and that means any licence so not an option even if for some bizarre reason I wanted to er... can't actually think of why I would want to... can't say I've ever had the car rental problem someone mentioned.
I suppose it does prove your driving history for insurance purposes, that might be a reason to keep a copy of it at least.
