Ok so you have $25k to spend. Which of the following would you choose and why?

1) Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring - 2013 41k miles
2) Kia Sorento - 2014 55k miles
3) Buick Enclave - 2014 45k miles

The Mazda every time!

Buick, despite the campaign to try to convince us otherwise, is an old peoples' brand and Kia is, well, Kia. 'Nuff said.

Dropping $25k on a vehicle today is always a bit of a gamble, but if it were me, I'd probably look at the Ford Edge, too. There was a redesign in M/Y 2015 and you could probably pick up a '15 Titanium for that money if you shop around. You could certainly get a loaded '14 Limited with panorama roof, power rear hatch, key-less push button start, remote start, nav., etc.

Here's an example following a quick search...

Thanks for the reply and input.

I'm a big fan of the Ford Edge BUT I'm looking for a 7 seater so it's not an option. Was considering the Explorer but it's a little over budget.

None of them. You can get a brand new Kia Sorrento for around that.

Agreed.

Also Mazda and Kia won't have anything left on their original warranties. Might be a year left on the Buick as them come with a 4y/50k one but then there's only 5k miles to the 50k

All are going to be cramped, with little room for luggage if all seven seats are filled.

lf I "needed" seven seats I wouldn't buy any of them if only for that reason.

Honestly? ..... If I truely needed seven seats I'd either buy older, or lease, and if I was here "temporarily", I'd lean towards a lease.

I'd also critically reappraise whether I truly needed seven seats, but this was brought up in your previous thread on this topic.

It's funny isn't it, what you don't know about brands when you're new!

I bought a 2013 Enclave, premium spec, no idea Buick was known as an old folks brand! I got one with loads of safety features that I wanted, and I love the styling. Not had it long but all good so far. One thing winds me up though. No fog lights. WTF is that about? Not that there's loads of fog but at home I used fog lights on the motorway when lots of spray to make me visible, so especially used my rear lights. Never occurred to me you'd make a modern car without. We have had a number of days with really, really intense rain. I use my main beam and that may be sufficient (it'll have to be). Also, I hate the American thing with red rear indicators which I don't think are very effective but obvs it didn't stop me buying the car.

Happy shopping and good luck with your decision.

Kia LXV6 is advertised at $26,683 at my local dealer and I am sure there's scope for a deal.

Thanks for the reply!

So in summary you're happy with the Buick? It certainly felt more roomy than the Mazda or Kia. Liked the captain seats in the back too.

What sort of price did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

Which isn't legal and saying what I think about the, er, people who drive in rain with their rear fog lights on would probably get me suspended from BE.

What's not legal?
The Highway Code says: you should only use your fog lamps when the visibility drops below 100m. If you're not sure when that is, a good rule of thumb is to work out whether you can see the tail lights of the car in front of you. If you can't, you (and they) should probably be using rear fog lamps.

I do agree that the glare from some of them can be more dangerous than any other visibility issues.
