I have to say that I'm really impressed at the wealth of the Brits who have emigrated to the US. I could not conceive of spending $1,000 a month on a vehicle that I would not even own at the end of the lease period. That amount is the take home pay for many Americans per week and for many others the take home pay for two weeks.

It's a mixed bag. Some may get a full expat package (including $x for a car). Others come over on an L-1A (multinational manager/exec) and may choose to lease/buy a high-end car. It all depends on the individual and where you want to spend your $.
