Car Insurance in UK for teenagers

Hi,

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and the Best Wishes to you all for the New Year.

I just wanted to know if anyone has any advice on Car Insurance. Our Son who is nearing 20 soon (gulp...where did the years go) has been driving a car since he was nearly 18 we had him on our insurance in Aus and like us has never had an accident, but we have found the car insurance here in the U.K far too expensive so the poor lad has not driven, my husband has returned back to Aus for a few more months with his work and I just wondered if there way anyway we can insure our son legally through an Australian Insurance Company etc....we were with QBE for years and both my husband and I have a full no claims bonus (in all our years driving we have both never had a crash )....any help would be great....many thanks

The only companies that can issue motor insurance in the UK are those who are members of the MIB (Motor Insurers Bureau). If QBE are members, yes. If not (which is the answer I'd expect to find) the answer is no.

Thank you for that I will now check and see if any are MIB members.

My 22 year old is paying though the nose too, we are told it's that way till they are 25, best thing you can do is have as small an engine as possible till then.

Our Son is 19 nearly 20 and the current insurance quotes are that expensive he will have to get a small engine...ie....his two legs and a couple of pedals...lol
