car insurance in MD on UK licence?
Hi,
I am new to this forum and wonder if anyone can help me....does anyone have experience of getting car insurance in MD while still on a british driving licence? I do intend to get my MD licence asap but it will be difficult for the fist few weeks - yet with two small children we need to be able to drive immediately. Any advice or experience would help - thank you

Sure, it'll be easy to get insurance.
The rate however will be shit until you get a local license, it'll get better once you've got a few years of US driving history and credit history.

Go through a local broker, you'll get a better deal. Looking online won't mean much, without a SSN or credit history, those quotes will be pretty meaningless.

Welcome. I'm in MD as well. I use Allstate - a neighbor is an Allstate agent with an office within walking distance. He seems to do a good job of getting me all the discounts I'm eligible for and he has done a good job handling my claims. Maybe that's more an endorsement for using a local agent rather than Allstate itself - not sure. FWIW, I know quite a few people who use Erie and like them.
Unfortunately MD does not have a reciprocity agreement for GB or NI licenses. I got lucky in that I still had a valid Ontario license when I moved here from the UK so I just used that to get a MD license.
