Out of those 2, the Corolla. My wife had a civic and it was crap. She was having a lot of back pain and saw a couple of doctors who couldn't really explain it. When she got rid of the civic her back pain went away. It was also just rubbish to drive, no fun at all, had crap pickup, crap handling and was generally just a bobbins car.

However, I would add a third option. The Mazda3. Very nice indeed and priced well in comparison to those two.

We have also been weighing up Honda vs Toyota, although bigger models so guzzle more gas. Our first instinct was Honda as everyone in my family in the UK has one, from a Civic to an S2000 and they all love them and keep replacing with Honda's.

But we have also heard Toyota is cheaper and better on fuel economy, so were considering that. But then we saw a Nissan Murano and loved it, so we are now going for a Nissan!

If it was down to me I'd shell out a bit more for the Civic out of those choices.
