Canadian wondering about Police certificate
When I went to The R.C.M.P to get my certificate they instead directed me to the city police instead to get it. Is this certificate going to pass the mustard with officials?

Re: Canadian wondering about Police certificate
I don't know how things have changed over the years but the same sort of thing
happened to us in '98. We had our Police check done by the Hagersville OPP. They
asked if it was for immigration purposes and charged us extra. I think it took
three weeks before we got the paperwork back but we had no trouble in Montreal with
it. Hopefully someone with more recent experience will give a better answer. --
Good Luck.

I thought the police certificate for Canadians had to come from the RCMP directly to qualify....

Re: Canadian wondering about Police certificate
I have contacted my local city police and the charge is the same no matter what. They
will even give me 3 sets for the one price which I thought was really good as well

Re: Canadian wondering about Police certificate
In my packet, I had a sheet of special instructions for Canadian Police Checks. It
said to get the RCMP report only (no need for reports from local police authorities
for every place you ever resided more than 6 months). I got the RCMP one (free), and
it passed the mustard, as you say - I am now in the US. I would insist on getting it
from the RCMP, just in case..
Good luck!

What I would like to know is what if you went to RCMP & asked to get a police certificate telling them why you need it & they tell you to go to your local police??? What do you do then???
