Canada to USA
Hi all,
We are applying for permenant residency in Canada and then after 3 years we know we can apply for canadian citzenship. After we have been granted this how can we move to the USA? We ideally would love to live in the USA but just found it so hard to get in and then we visited Canada and it was so beautiful. However my question how could we live in the USA permanantely after obtaining our Canadian Citzenship? Thanks all Kelly sorry for any typing errors I am rushing!!!:D |
There is the possibilty of getting a NAFTA affiliated job.
a TN visa (I think!! don't hold me to it) apart from that you have to go about it in the same way anyone else would. |
we live in the UK at present but found it impossible to get in to the UK except on a temp visa.
While out on holiday a few times americans said basically if you want to come to live in USA and have got nothing and live in a chosen country then the USA will give you everything, if you have got anything then you get nothing? |

Why go to Canada first if your intention is to eventually live in USA? Are you a British citizen? |
Hiya Manc1976,
yep I am britich born and bred and am fed up living in the UK. I want out and am in love with both Canada and USA but have got so much more to see of both countries. Our intention was to move to the USA, everywhere we turned it was "NO" you won't be able to apply on that visa or that visa. I thought we might get in on a H1b visa (might be wrong!) or an L?? visa but on looking into it more don't think we could. So we opted for Canada as its just as nice and easier for us to see if we could apply for permenant residency which fingers crossed we will get. We are also interested in the thought that we can come to the US on a 6 month time scale as UK citzens. |

yes lovely neck of the woods is cornwall but its mainly old people down here, severe lack of jobs, housing market gone through the roof and no shops etc.
we are stuck out on the limb, the lifestly we want we just can't get here in sunny (at the moment) Cornwall Have you been to Cornwall, UK? |

So why not move to a different part of the UK. Just a thought, nothing wrong with emigrating to better your lifestyle, so long as your goals are realistic to achieve. |
no not much better, just fed up with the UK, we are keen mountain bikers and horse riders and want a more relaxed lifestyle.
Newquay is a tourist hotspot and it fine and always busy but that's about it, the rest of Cornwall is really small. e can sell our house here in the UK because the price has doubled we can add the money we come out with to our capital and have a niuce lump sum to live mortgage free abroad. You can not get anything and I mean anything not even a 1 bedroomed flat for under £125,000 now in Cornwall. |

I cannot understand why it has gone through the roof when there is so little industry left in the area outside of tourism. I miss pasties, but they can be found in some areas of the US. I think you can find them up in Manc's part of the country because the area had many Cornish settlers, but alas, not in DC. |

Someone who has taken my advice! Can't get into the US: try Canada.

Originally posted by Oggie Oi! Ah, you are up in North MI, but not that far North. I think it is really the UP where all the Cornish settled. Never been there myself (have been to Flint), but I would like to check it out some time. the top knuckle of the little finger. |
Oggie Oi! I live about 5 miles from Stithians and although I love Cornwall you are right in the industry side of things.
Hey maybe that's a business fro me to set up, making pasties abroad and proper fish and chips....would you like to buy some:D We are lucky enough to jump on the property ladder 3 years ago and our property has already doubled literally in price. I am hoping to get our visa's and then sell the house and move with some dosh, unless I win the lottery:D Hi manc1976 can you tell me more about the b2 tourist visa, I-94 and the h1b visa route or TN visa as you seem to know an awful lot about them and when I am searching around on the web it can get quite confusing! well I am blonde!!!!! cheers all Kelly |
