You have to make a stand at some point. If Paul McCartney got involved in every animals culling he wouldnt know where to begin or stop. I think thats a lame argument. Good for Paul and those like him. I too think its a cruel horrible practice to kill those innocent creatures. :(

I just had a quick butcher's at the bbc News site and part of it said:

Prime Minister Stephen Harper said Canada was victim of an "international propaganda campaign", and insisted the cull would be carried out humanely.

- so, what's the truth? How do they do it?

There was nothing said in the OP about clubbing mothers while pups watched, so please don't get on my case. If that is true then I would definitely not call it humane. But where's the evidence?

I know in the past they clubbed them so that they didnt get blood on the fur! Not sure what they are doing now but I wouldn't be surprised if its the same, there is quite a demand for fur coats.

I wasnt getting on anyone's case, I was merely stating a fact that the moms are killed for the fur and that in many many cases the poor sweet animals are left to suffer a painful death while their little kiddies are near by watching or being dragged off (separated from their mom) to be clubbed to death themselves!!

I will try to find the link for you - but believe me I wasnt out there protesting in the bloody freezing cold for the good of my health!

I dont necessarily have a problem with controlling the population of certain animals when overpopulation occurs - but what is the definition of humane in this instance?

Good for you Willmore for helping to expose this cruel hunt.

Let's move on to something that we all can relate to. Who eats chicken? Before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, why not sort out how your chicken gets to your chilled cabinet in the grocery store. Ditto, about beef (cows like the chickens, get pumped full of hormones and antibiotics)...

I know lets all eat nothing! Then everything will be saved and we can all live happily ever after.

I guess we should leave the seal colonies to all die off for lack of food.
