Be very careful with these sort of statements as well......you might well be screaming to get back to the UK after 6 months for a variety of reasons....until you've lived here you'll never have a true perspective to put a timeline on when you might go back, or not at all, etc.

If you've worked in that sector in the UK, this might not be a surprise, I guess.
Thanks Lapin. I was not aware there is organised crime in this sector, but knew of the obvious hold ups at the cash point and driving away without paying for fuel. What do you mean by organised crime, do you mean a type of black market for diesel, or do you mean drug lords or gangs holding gas station owners to ransom?

Hi Dan

Thanks for clarifying.

What do you think of Tampa?

LOL when Keith was over here he met some of those folks.... inadvertantly.... asking me "Why would their place have all these security gates and cameras?"

I finally figured out where he had been... I about died laughing... he about died....

Quite like it - not a bad place at all, definately a growing city. More of a regular type city than nearby St Pete/Clearwater or Orlando. The wife's family is all local too, which is the main reason why we are here - its where she's from.

Hi Dan

My wife and I liked it when we travelled around including going to Busch Gardens. Is it true you get more sun there than in Orlando? Do the hurricanes hit you in this area much?

Forgive me no I haven't. I need to find out if Gas station owners do sometimes get blackmailed......? Maybe it is worth me visiting the local police station when we are back over in December? I hope that they can run business like anybody?

More sun than Orlando? No clue.

Traditionally hurricanes seem not to hit Tampa too bad, but that's no real help because you just never know anywhere around the gulf of Mexico/Carribean. In 1921 it got hit by a fairly big one and is seriously overdue for another.

If you like Busch gardens, if you become a Florida resident you can buy a pass that allows you to go as much as you like for a year, which costs just a little more than a single day ticket.

Easy enough.

We have 'em, you calculate 'em by 4/15/??? using whatever method to you can to arrive at the lowest number, you pay 'em

Now isn't that easy?
