Can I use a US child seat in the UK?
Just wondered if anyone has any knowledge or experience of this. Before i go on this is an infant seat and not one of those that fixes higher up.
The seat is a peg perego made in Italy and is the same as those sold in the UK (also as mamas and papas) so I dont have concerns over that. However the base uses the latch system which can be connected to the isofix system in UK cars. The UK base is slightly different and has a support leg. I know that the base will work and while it may not meet European standards it is as safe in the UK as in the US. I wanted to see if anyone else has been through this or not? It can be fitted without the base using seat belt but that isn't as safe.

I've used my U.S. car seats in the U.K with no problem using the seat belts. We used the infant seat when my daughter was a baby (using the base), plus her Britax seat when she was older. Babycenter.com has a pretty good car seat board if you need more help.

I believe there are threads on this exact topic on the mummies' forum of UK Yankee (I don't think that's its exact name, but you'll find it easily enough).

Yes - done it - absolutely fine, and a far better solution than trusting the crap baby seats the car rental companies often provide.

Re: Can I use a US child seat in the UK?
I recently learned a bitter lesson: child seats from rental companies all smell like piss. Kids wee on them but no-one ever bothers to wash them bc they don't belong to the renter and the guys in the garage don't have to use them...

I have used my US car seats in the UK without any problem.
US LATCH system = UK ISOFIX

Do they have left handed and right handed child seats or something ?
I have been over a few times and taken ours, couldn't see any difference between Uk and USA child seats

And they mostly look like they've been used for drop-kick practice too....
