Can I move to USA? (UK Citizen)

Hi,

I am a UK citizen, I was born here in the UK.

I have a BSc in Forensic Science, and also a MSc in Forensic Science. I work as a Crime Scene Investigator, a role which I have been doing for about 12 years.

I am looking to make a move and work in the USA, in order to develop and continue my career; it is my understanding that specialist roles allow an individual a greater chance of emigrating. I do have an uncle and cousins in the USA (who were born there).

British Forensic science is looked upon highly, worldwide, due to our advances in crime scene examination. I was hoping this along with my experience would assist me?

Can you please advise how I may go about pursuing my move?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks so much for your reply. I have read through the thread you posted;

Would my skills be considered as being in short supply or a specialist skill? It is a specialist role which I do.

That's really something that would be best answered by an immigration attorney - they best question to ask yourself is this, are your skills noteworthy enough for an employer to spend many thousands of dollars and considerable time to recruit you over a USC that could start tomorrow?

Afraid I know nothing about your industry. Are you on LinkedIn? Do you have contacts in the business in the US? Is there a company in the UK with US branches that you could transfer to? -- much the easiest way to get here as an employee, if feasible.

Many forensic scientists are employed by city and state agencies and police forces, some of these insist on applicants being US citizens. It will vary from employer to employer.
