I disagree. Multiple peer review on busy boards like this can often give much better advice than a single professional opinion.

Plus his situation is not exactly an unusual one. I doubt that he'd learn anything new from a professional source at this point.

Exactly.

You could come over to study for a year at a Uni. Would cost a bit though, but it would give you a chance to spend a good year in the US and decide if this is the one for you.

I am forced to disagree further. I have had so much bad information on forums it is untrue. When my wife was moving to the UK with me we had so much conflicting info on UK-Yankee and I have heard so much conflicting information on here regarding this issue. Not to say that people dont know what they are talking about but so much info does conflict and, as a newbie to the situation, how are you supposed to know what is right? I know I didn't.

Of course there are people here who know what they are talking about but there are others who don't, those who are merely PO'd that they spent twenty bag to get all their ducks in a row and get their knickers in a twist at the mere mention of people who come in on VWP, get married and change status later. All I am saying is, not necessarily seek professional advice, but seek advice from more than one source; maybe go to a few different forums, ask people who have emigrated to the US by various different means etc. This couple are young and standing in front of a minefield of paperwork and legislation. The more info from different places they get the better for them.

I'm surprised no one has posted the "ways to move to the US" obligatory denial post.

To the OP... your only real option from reading your posts... is to marry. That is to say that if your final intent is to stay in the US with your US Citizen GF then your only LEGAL/viable option is to marry her and apply for K1 (fiance visa).

Getting into a University over in the US is incredibly costly, even more so for overseas students and of course you have to be a viable student in the first place.

Like everyone else here, I think you're going about this the right way. Slowly and deliberately.

hope it all works out for ya.

In the OP's case, there are options. But there is not always a willful way with USCIS.

A lot of love outweighs a lot of luck. Face it together and go for it. There is always the UK option of course. Much easier to get in for your GF/wife and prolly a lot cheaper. We are thinking of heading back next year maybe, just for the free health care, decent days off from work, busses, no Hersheys chocolate, fish, chips and mushy peas, rain, cheap cars, tolerable temeratures and various other little things lol. America is definately an experience you should have under your belt though.
