Campaign For Little Britain

I was in NYC earlier today and went to "A Salt and Battery" in Greenwich Village for some fish and chips.

The British owners of the chippy are running a campaign with Virgin Atlantic to persuade New York City's mayor, Mike Bloomberg to have a small part of Manhatten designated as "Little Britain". There are now quite a few British shops in the vicinity of the chip shop including the butchers 'Myers of Keswick' some little boutique stores and Stella McCartney's shop.

You can sign an online petition; you might live hundreds or thousands of miles from the Big Apple but perhaps one day you may visit.....it would be nice to have a 'Little Britain' outside the UK! After all, there is already Chinatown, Little Korea, Harlem for the Hispanics etc.

I signed the petition myself and I wouldn't see why this wouldn't happen.

I'm very bi-polar on this one... half of me says yeah this is a great idea and the other half - the dark cynical side of me wonders what virgin are going to do with all those email addresses from British people who have an interest in New York, considering that London --- NY is their primary route.

So I checked the domain name and the IP address and suprisingly they're not registered to Virgin...

With the little evil monster satisfied I signed the petition but I know he's going to laugh when I get my first 20% discount email from Mr Branson !

Noooooooo! I missed it!

There was no mention/poster with the transmission times at 'A Salt and Battery' - but then again I'm in New Jersey and we get different programmes to the New Yorkers.

Any idea if it will be on the TV again soon?

My son's girlfriend wanted to come along with us as she'd seen the chip shop on TV. She was not impressed....too greasy for her tastes. I was like a pig in a trough, gobbling up the haddock, chips and curry sauce, washed down with a Boddington's Ale. Delicious it was! :p

A couple of years ago there was a food programme with the "Chip Shop" in Brooklyn. We went there but it wasn't as good as the one in Greenwich Village.

I noticed that they're offering "franchise opportunities"..... maybe some of those people hoping to come in on E2 business visas might take an interest....)
